Adding to our family

May I introduce to you our newest family member to be. She is still too young to be separated from her mother, sister and three brothers but come the end of March she'll move to us.
This is how it all started : last weekend we went to a cat show and little girl fell in love with two Cornish Rex kittens aged 6 months. We have been talking about getting a cat but this was certainly not the breed I thought we'd go for (I was rooting for Orientals).

However, I did immediately take a liking on the grown Cornish Rex beside the kittens cage since it was both talkative, funny, active and playful :). I did more research and found out that that's what these cats usually are like - and intelligent. The incredible thing was that there is a litter very close to us in Riihikoski (i.e. 30 min from us) and on Thursday evening we drove there to see the 7-week-old kittens. There are allergy concerns so I was very worried how things would go but they went very well.

The owner's husband is allergic but they now have seven (!) CR cats and at the moment five kittens in the house and he has no problems. Hasn't had them for years. Things may turn out different in my case but then again they might not :). The owners know this and are willing to let us take a chance and I'm very grateful for that. I am scared it won't work out but if you never try then you will never know either. And, after all, I grew up in a household where there were two cats and a dog.

Husband and I had a long talk that evening and Friday I emailed the owners that we would very much like to have this little girl as ours. It took a while for us to get a response (their broadband has been acting up) but finally I got the response we hoped for and they said yes :). Yay!

Now we're trying to figure out what to call her. Little girl and I think her name should be Miri but Husband isn't too keen on that name. We have five weeks of waiting ahead of us before our kitten will move to us so there is time, but it would be nice to have a name for her for the current owners to use already before she comes to us. (Well, in fact they are still under the impression she'll be Miri :)).

I am VERY excited :). Isn't she adorable? Blue eyes, bat ears and all? No? Well, she is an aquired taste I know, but I personally I absolutely love her look.

She IS adorable! I know you will enjoy her and I expect it will be wonderful for Little Girl. My 9 month old Beagle has come in as I write this, and she is jumping up on me (she's just been outside with Richard and is excited), but she'll calm down soon, and probably fall asleep in my lap later on. We love and enjoy her so much.
