Moses, Elijah and Loesje

I'm having a bit of a problem getting going here. In January we had to move out from our offices to give room for redoing the entire floor. As I returned to work I spent Monday morning with Husband carrying my stuff back from our temporary office (books and papers mainly). Then it took most of Monday afternoon to get the computer going and as it turned out Tuesday morning, too. In the meanwhile I howered around to find places for everything and in the afternoon met with a couple and their first born to discuss the baby's baptism on Saturday.
Today as I got here I still needed to reorganize for a while but now the office is looking like I like it :). Not perhaps very ellegant but certainly entertaining (I like to put comic strips and stuff on my notice board) and even almost cozy.
All this is, of course, important but there is a sermon waiting to be written and I don't seem to get to it. It's Transfigaration Sunday this coming Sunday and it's such a powerful story with larger than life characters: Moses, Elijah, St.Peter and Jesus himself and then there's even God's booming voice (not that I know for sure how booming it is but you get the point I'm sure). Then there's the setting, too. These guys are on top of a mountain of all places. It just makes you feel pretty small, really, which is fair enough but I really do want to say something that will resonate and open up something new in my congregation members' lives. Hey, I just got and idea. Great!
Completely unrelated to the above is the original reason for this posting. I stumbled accross my colleague Minna's blog and she'd written about her new friend Loesje. We encountered her in Holland.

Loesje

I had seen these posters or stickers around in Finland, too, but never knew who or what this Loesje was. My Dutch friend Johan tells me that Loesje is a pretty common girl's name in the Neatherlands. The name is in fact in a diminutive form. As it turns out the Loesje project started in the Neatherlands.
This is what Loesje says about hereself (I rewrote the text but didn't change the content - more information is availabe in Loesje's own site):
Loesje wants to conquer the world with creativity and posters. This might sound pretty abstract but this is how it works; every month a poster series gets published. The texts published on posters often reflect the current world issues and the concerns and engagement of the Loesje members' world wide. The texts come from all over the world and after editing a series get published. The aim is to get the reader to think, act and react on the topics the texts are referring to. Some texts have a serious message and others simply want to make you laugh. Humor and creativty are always important in all the work that Loesje does. Loesje considers texts on posters to be a strong medium to reach people. They can for example also be used in an information campaing to make people aware of the danger of racisim or the importance of environmental care. At the same time Loesje believes that you
should no make these topics too heavy which is why she likes to use humor.

I dig her a lot! :)
