Head cold and teething

Did I say we're all three fine? I spoke too soon. Husband and I are, yes, but as it turns out little girl has a head cold, the poor pet. She's sounded like a piglet all week during the nights and today we went to the doctor's; Our very first doctor appointment due to illness. The nice doctor lady told us that her ears are clear and so is her chest so there is, at least for now, no serious infection going on anywhere. She just has a head cold which today has turned to a runny nose.
Little girl is also teething - numbers 4 and 5 i.e. her upper front teeth are now on their way. She looks like a little draculette since the ones next to the front teeth came through first. So, there's a lot of wiping her nose and chin because of the head cold and the teething thing (try saying that ten times, especially if you're not a native English speaker :)).
At the moment she is in her crib sleeping. Thank you so much those of you have commented on the attaching-the-crib-to-the-side-of-our-bed-dilemma we had - especially Nicole since I never got to the phone when you rang (winter time took a bit of a toll on us that week). We've found out that it actually works better for us to not have the two beds attahced to each other.
Husband covered the legs of the crib so that it is smooth to move the crib and when need be (which is most nights ) I just pull the crib right beside me and put my hand through the bars to soothe little girl. Little girl has learnt this and nowadays I often find her sleeping turned to the side of the crib which is on the side of our bed and as close to the bars as she can get. It just melts my heart to see her like that.
It is easier for me to get up and put her back to her crib when I can actually move the crib away from the bed. This way we can also lift the head of the crib to help her breathe when she has a cold like she now does. The only thing is that when in her sleep she moves she also slides downwards a bit and eventually I find her at the bottom of the crib. She doesn't seem to mind it, though.
This was us for today. As little girl and I went downtown I visited my place of work and have now formally informed them that I shall stay at home with little girl untill at least the end of next August. Most likely I'll then continue my stay at home mommy time untill little girl turns two.
