Seven months

We have yet another avid reader in the house. Little girl loves her books and ours, too.

The name of the book is "I like my baby". Daddy was helping little girl to read it the other day.

Notice that little girl sits on her own! She can't really do it yet, but there are those brief moments when she really does seem to know how to do it. No hurry, though. She'll figure it out soon enough. My friend LA's daughter has just learnt to sit on her own and she seems such a big girl now, not a baby anymore at all, that I'm fine for little girl to stay my baby just a little while longer.

Aaand then the solids thing. Sigh! Our child is a good eater which is very reassuring for her me but... the mess you get with oatmeal and blueberries is incredible.
On the other hand, my mom loved to tell the story of me having dropped the spoon to the floor for about the millionth time and her bending down to retrieve it for me only to get a plate full of blueberry soup to her head - and she was just on her way to work. She also wore her hair very long those days so it must have been interesting to try to get it clean. Apparently my reaction had been to giggle at her.

Peek-a-boo. Apparently most babies like to draw most things on their faces - which is absolutely terrifying for their parents who have been educated to watch out for anything and everything that could suffocate the baby. The baby oblivious of her parents just likes the feel of the material and doesn't get why the fun thing is pulled away from her.
At some point I realized the obvious i.e. you can breathe through most fabrics and started being somewhat less paranoid. Little girl loved hiding behind just about anything and still does. We then started to ask her: "Where is mommy's/daddy's little girl (saying her name)?" and that is how she learnt her name, too. Then she'd pull the cloth/towel/onesie/you name it from her face with pure exhiliration to show where she was. Early on she couldn't contain herself to wait to the end of the question which was very funny. Now she can even let us wait for a bit to show her face to us. I absolutely love that little smiling face she then shows.

Incidentally it seems that after three months of no new teeth there are now four (I'm not kidding) that are just about to make an appearance. It seems that numbers three and four will be the teeth beside the upper front teeth and then five and six are most likely to be the upper front teeth. Three an four are very visible inside the gums by now and five and six have still a bit of ways to come. Teething doesn't seem to bother Lotta too much which is of course really really great.
