Firstly, my cousin and his family got to Addis Abeba safe and sound and have already sent email and talked on the phone with my aunt and her husband. They seem to have settled in very fast :).
On August 10th I turned 41 years old and promptly dove in the deep end with an age crisis. I'm ok, though, a crisis here and another one there keeps life interesting and moreover is needed so that you evaluate what's good and what isn't. I'm in the process of doing that still but I can already say that home, marriage and motherhood rock :).
On August 22nd we had a house warming party for our new neighbours and found out what we already knew that is they are a really nice bunch. We had a great time and the party ended an hour later than planned.
The following day was the blessing of our home and house warming party for friends and family. Many couldn't make it but if all had come we might have been in trouble, too. I tend to overestimate the number of people you can comfortably fit in here. Father Peter, my closest colleague and a friend, took care of the blessing really wonderfully and we had a lovely party afterwards. And we received the nicest gifts. One of them was a cherry tree which Lotta and I planted later in the evening.
Now it's September 2nd. About a week ago Lotta decided that she knows how to walk and is getting more an more steady by the day. We're very proud of her and I think she looks incredibly cute when she comes to me hands in the air, little round belly first and smiling with her whole face.
Lotta is learning new words just about daily. Surprisingly to me her s is very good and she even attempts our Finnish r. It's more a French variation still but I'm very impressed with her willingness to try. We praise her a lot! :)
