Here is the almost finished cake number 2.
We like blowing out the candles so we did it again yesterday :).
And here's the rest of the news.
Remember when I wrote that a little bit of ibuprofein and rest should take care of my ankle? Well, I was wrong. Apparently the ligaments on the left side of my ankle are broken. I'm pretty suprised, though. I did step down a little wrong on Thursday, I think, and yes, it hurt quite a bit but not particularily long. It was only on Saturday night when it got so sore I couldn't sleep - probably because I'd been on my feet all day.
So, I went to the ER and the doctor declared I needed a cast! For four weeks. And I have crutches, too. Guess how much I can use them, though? On Tuesday I go back and they'll make a cast which can be removed because this is extremely difficult when you have a 2-year-old to play with. I have to be able to get to town even if most of the day I do wear the cast. Pushing a stroller using crutches isn't possible.
Husband has been biting his lip not to say "I told you so". I may have been - Husband would say there's no "may" here - a bit stubborn about my excercise routine and I admit that it might have had something to do with this. The fact that my achilles tendon clearly was getting infected is probably the reason the ligaments tore when I stepped down a stair. My ankle had lost what little flexibility it ever had.

Oh well, no matter what, this is a HUGE inconvenience although not a big thing otherwise. It doesn't hurt or anything. The only thing is that apparently this type of an injury tends to not heal particularily well and in all likelihood I'll have problems with that ankle from now on. Sigh. Hence the cast even though it sort of feels a bit over the top for an injury that doesn't really even hurt.
Poor little girl is afraid of the cast but mostly it's hidden by my jeans so she gets to forget about it. With the next cast I'll draw what I hope will be funny pictures on it and she can put stickers on it, too. I hope that will help her to overcome her fear.
