Sorry! Fall term is just about upon us and the amount of work to be done has managed to surprise me, although I've done this enough many times that I should know better :). Next week is the happening for the 1st year students called ReadyStudyGo and the beginning service of the academic year of the Turku University. In addition there is of course the regular service and our good friends get married on Saturday with me honorably residing. Doesn't look like much but it is since most of this is on top of the sort of regular work that I do, the service proper being the exception of course.
The great thing is that fall is definitely here. I know those of you who love summer don't like to hear it but then again those of us whose absolute favourite time of the year is early fall, well, we are in heaven. I love the slightly chillier mornings and that something in the air that tells you that summer is definitely over. I love that the sun sets now when it should around 8 or 9 p.m. and I can't wait for the fall leaves. This is the reason why we got married in October! Incidentally it is really odd to think that in less than two months we'll have been married for a year. It just doesn't seem so long at all. But time always has been such a subjective thing, hasn't it? And in yet a year we'll most likely be three.
In the early nineties there was a show called the Northern Exposure. Aren't dvd's great? We now have the first five seasons and I've been little by little getting back to the groove of life in Cicely, Alaska. And the great thing is that summer - as can been expected - is not really much a part of the storyline. Don't get me wrong I like summer but there's just something to be said about arctic conditions. I know, though, that most think I'm nuts :).
It's just, well, I'm a nest builder. I always have been ever since I was a little girl. And you don't build a nest unless you need one to protect you from the elements. So, whenever fall begins my nesting instincts kick in and I know nothing better than curling in the sofa or a comfy chair with a good book and a blanket. Alternatively of course watching Northern Exposure works very well, too. Nesting means that I have a little spot of my own which is warm and comfy and not only comfortable but comforting. Everyone should have one!
