Silent retreats, pot-luck dinners and daughters

Time flies when you have a lingering cold and quite a lot to do but the fact that my last text is about Father's Day and that was already a week and a half ago got to me and I felt I should at least write a bit.

We have a silent retreat this weekend - starting Friday evening - and there's a meditation that needs to be written and another one that needs polisihing up and a morning Eucharist service which also needs to be checked. I have to get those done before I leave the office today so I have to try to be concise.

On Sunday we also have a Family Service and a pot-luck dinner following it because it is Thanksgiving tomorrow and we'd like to get together for dinner as a congregation, too. I remember how odd it felt to be going to school on 1st of May (which as you may remember or know is pretty huge in Finland) when I was in South Dakota as an exchange student so it must feel really weird that all of Finland happily goes about it's everyday life when it's Thanksgiving. The best part with the pot-luck dinner is, by the way, that I was promised pumpkin pie!!!! You don't get it in Finland and I absolutely love pumpkin pie.

Matu and I return from Tammilehto, Rymättylä Sunday around 1.30 pm so we'll be busy all day first with the ending of the retreat and then with the Family Service and pot-luck. But it'll be a great day I'm sure. A bit challenging as you come out of a very silent gathering to a, let's say, more lively one :).

Our mini-Mia, as my friend called our daughter, is getting bigger - and not so surprisingly so am I. I now feel her move and she moves a lot. She seems to be quite the busy body and Husband gets a worried wrinkle between his eyes everytime this comes up. It seems we will have it quite lively at our house after she's born.

Since Husband is the calmest person on earth guess to whom the finger points? Yep, it's me. Mini-Mia may be closer to truth than either Husband or I would want. My mom said that she had to take me to children's gym and stuff by the time I got three since I seemed to have so much energy to run around. Honestly, though, I love it. It seems I have a kindred spirit in my daughter and since Husband kinda likes me - he's said so, honest! - he isn't really that worried either :).
