Birthday cake part 1

I made this yesterday and it turned out ok, I think, although I still need to figure out just what to do with her whiskers! The marzipan is 1mm thick so the whiskers will look kind of silly if made out of the paste I have now used since there will be a drop. I think I'll try liqourice :).

Today we baked the cake to go with Hello Kitty. It's a two layer cake with banana on one layer and strawberry-blueberry-rasberry "jam" on the next. The jam is baby food and doesn't have sugar which makes for little less sweetness since you know the whole cake will be covered with marizipan and that is REALLY sweet. That's why I moistened it with lemon juice, too :) and used quark together with vanilla whipped cream.
Now the cake is in the fridge waiting for the next part. That is making of the stuff that goes under the marzipan and spreading it - evenly! - all around the cake. After that it's time for the marzipan and then Kitty and other decorations. I'm having fun :). Most importantly, though, I really hope it'll taste very good.
As you can see birthday girl has had fun, too :). I think we might need to wash her hair tonight, though, even though it isn't bathing night tonight.
