Cauliflower planting

The first spring after Husband and I had met in the fall - he was not Husband yet, though, but Boyfriend :) - I found myself sitting at the back of a tractor and busyly and very clumsyly trying to put cauliflower plants into a carousel which then dropped one after another to the holes on the ground. I remember nothing else of that time except that I was really nervous that I'd mess up and that I thought my Boyfriend was really cool behind the wheel of the tractor. It was a wonderfully proud moment when my future father-in-law told me that I did good :). Husband's family became my family that day. There is something in getting together and working together that binds you into each other in a special way.
To be married into a farming family means that each spring we continue take part in the cauliflower planting. This year my job was to look after Lotta's two cousins and of course her. The younger of her cousins sat with Husband in the tractor in the beginning and went for his afternoon nap after lunch :). Before lunch, though, we - the older of the cousins, my daughter and I - took a walk to the field to admire the work.
