I'd just fed Lotta this morning and was headed to our kitchen to get something to eat myself when the doorbell rang. There was a young woman with a big box who gave it to me after I'd signed her form. It was a box of gifts and a beautiful card that had come all the way from South Dakota from my American family there.
Lotta received three adorable outfits and a Winnie-the-Pooh toy that makes sounds and will be fun and easy for her to play with once she grasps the idea of holding on to things :) and then the most wonderful children's book I've ever come across. It's by Max Lucado and its titled Just In Case You Ever Wonder. I highly recommend! It is absolutely something I will start to read to Lotta (translated, though :)) right away. Here's how it begins:
Long, long ago God made a decision - a very important decision... one that I'm really glad He made. He made the decision to make you.
The same hands that made the stars made you.
The same hands that made the canyons made you.
The same hands that made the trees and the moon and the sun made you.
That's why you are so special. God made you.
You can never ever repeat those words too often nor read the rest of the book too often because it's all about love: God's and that of our love as parents.
The next is especially for my Mom and Dad.
Mom, Dad I can't begin to tell you how thankful I am for this particular gift and all of your wonderful gifts to us. I am even more thankful for your love that reaches us across the ocean and across so many years already. You gave me a home when I needed it most and if that weren't enough you continue to embrace me with your love and now my husband and daughter, too. I love you, you know that, right?
