Happy 1st Advent

We've had a really nice weekend. Saturday was Sammu's daddy's birthday and yesterday little girl's Mummo and Ukko ie. grandma and 'pa came for a visit. The birthday party was a costume party. People were asked to dress as indians or pilgrims. I wasn't quite up to sorting out a costume for us adults and our Little Owl had a dress for the part but no feathers in her hair.
Little Owl felt that the crowd was a bit intimidating so she hang on my neck for the first 15 minutes not daring to look up at all. Once I got up with her and took her to the kitchen she dared to look up with daddy's coaxing and from there on got braver and braver. She had met everyone before but they were looking somewhat, erm, different :).
As fun as it was to go to the party and have grandma and 'pa visit us I think it may have been a bit soon for me. I feel very tired. But then again I might in any case and it did a world of good to get out of the house and see friends. My fever is down to 36,8 (my normal temperature is 36,6) so basically I'm on the mend. I did start to take antibiotics for my lungs this morning nonetheless. If I hadn't Husband would have given me a very long lecture when he came home! And I think he might be right. I still have the cough and a runny nose so if there is an infection that can be cured with the antibiotics then good.
We went to Lieto church for the first time yesterday. Little girl behaved beautifully and Husband, too :). BUT I of course had a really bad case of coughing and had to leave very fast when it started. There is a certain tickle in my throat I recognize and there's nothing else to be done than to excuse myself and fast. I coughed for five or ten minutes without breaking and then tried going back inside. But the minute I'd sat down I felt it coming again so we had to leave. Right smack in the middle of intercessions! SIGH!
The church is an old one - as in medieaval - but it was very, very warm and dry inside. The most important thing for me was, though, that I got to sing Hoosianna which for every Finn is The Hymn for first Advent. I didn't have much of a voice but it felt so good to praise nonetheless. The church was packed with people and most were singing to their hearts' content so it was really lovely.
Our family would like to wish everyone a wonderful Advent time. May God's Son's arrive in the middle of all that you do during this season of waiting for Him.
