Incredible how busy life sometimes manages to get. In fact I need to get going again in ten minutes. Remember our women's group? Well, its now called Blis (Brides living in international situations) and the first Monday of the month is when we meet.
Before that, though, two things. We had our Palm Sunday service yesterday and I am always at awe with how the simplest things can work so well. In our case we always read the passion (this year Mark's) and the parts have been given to various congregation members. I get to be the Lord since I'm the celebrant. No one else is even facing the congregation except the one reading the narrative parts. All "actors" read their lines from where they sit. Me included. And it works! The text comes to life and by the time people shout "Crusify!" I'm overwhelmed with the sadness and beauty of the story.
The hymn that we sang right before the Eucharist was also an amazing choice. Someone stood up (we usually don't) everyone followed and then the hymn came to life, too. And the feeling of community, worship and love was so very strong that I had to do my very best to not cry. God is in the midst of us and it is so amazing.
The second thing is somewhat of an anticlimax here but important. I've been asked to talk a bit about why the question of female pastorship is yet again a part of public debate or at least what seems to be happening in our church regarding this. I'll try to get to it tomorrow - and at the latest - Wednesday, but now I really do have to get going...

erm I think that someone might have been me - it's so hard to sing great hymns sitting - and in our tradition across the river - we stand or sit as we like :)
But I agree that the song was amazing. I tried to google it to find the words but it's not available unless I buy that lovely new hymn book you have in your congregation ... grrr
