Our friends the Lindholms became the proud parents and their son the proud brother of a baby girl last night. Baby's mama called me this morning and I am over the moon for them :). The baby has low blood sugar and has to stay in the ICU today. She is in no danger but mamas tend to want to have their young close by so it would be great if she were brought to mama soon and that's what we're praying for, too! I can't quite yet visit mama because she's had a stomach bug and although it seems to have been a very efficent way to get labor started she says she doesn't wish that on anyone. So, for now I have to stay put but the minute it's safe I'm going! :)
In our household we had kind of a busy night, too. I woke up at 2 am (after about 1,5 h sleep) to notice that my skin was itching like mad. Since I am allergic this wasn't a new experience (Fanta and Sprite reduce me to a desperate scratching wreck of a woman) but I couldn't figure out what could have caused the reaction. Then husband woke up, too, and I remembered that I'd eaten berry soup which was sweetened with an artifical sweetener. The weird part was that usually these things take about 20-30 minutes and come soon after I've eaten or drank whatever it was that I shouldn't. This time it took three ours to get a reaction and it lasted for nearly two hours.
Since this could mean hepatosis after all I went to the laboratory today. We get the results only tomorrow as the blood sample is sent to Paimio to be tested. For some reason I'm not worried but the last time I wasn't it turned out that I have diabetes so I don't know what to think. On the other hand, worrying is not going to change the outcome and if I do have hepatosis then, well, then is the time to worry.
I go to neuvola (the prenatal clinic) in about an hour so we'll know a bit better how the baby is doing in the midst of this - she's been kicking a lot so she seems to be pretty ok which is a relief.

Okay, so you're next in line!!!!! :)
I've got some important info on how to get started with breastfeeding that would be good for you to know prior to birth. (wish I had known)
And in addition, pls. visit Imetyksen tuki ry association website.
I am indeed :). I've been trying to convince the little one that next week's the week but... :)
I've actually visited the website at some point and would love any other tips, hints, suggestions on breastfeeding that there are. Also, I found your blog and thought it was so reassuring to read it in case ours isn't into mommy's milk production system either.
