Results and names

So, I went to the neuvola yesterday. Baby's heartbeats were strong and good and she was moving a lot so they were pleased with us there. I, on the other hand, think it's high time for the little one to drop and not mess about but she apparently is in no hurry to come into the world. This coming Saturday we'll hit the 38 week mark - or if what the ultrasound at week 20 seemed to indicate then at the latest three days later. I'm thinking Annunciaton Day would be a cool day to be born. After all, one of her names is going to be Marjatta and that's one of the Finnish forms of Mary :). I have mentioned that she'll be Lotta Anna Marjatta, haven't I? And if she is after all a he then Pyry Johannes is what he'll be.
By the way, in Finland many tend to not tell the name of the baby before baptism. It's another thing if you simply haven't yet made up your mind about the name but if you have, and moreover are using it freely when no one else is around, then keeping it as a secret is something I don't quite grasp. The main reason, I suppose, for keeping the name a secret is that many people think that baptism is a name giving ceremony - which it of course isn't - and I guess that's how come the tradtion/habit of keeping the name a secret got started. Incidentally, in actual fact I really would like that we also had a Christian name giving ceremony, since names are so important to us. And then babtism would be a separate, wonderful sacrament that it is on it's own.
As you can tell, we're not adhering to the tradition of not revealing the name. Choosing a name for our child to have right from the beginning feels especially important to me. I want him/her to be someone with a name from the get go since s/he is a perfectly complete human being from the beginning, too. Happily Husband doesn't disagree :).
The test results from yesterday came today and everything is ok. In fact better than ok. There's no indication of hepatosis - my results were way below the limit - my blood sugar had been good (which I knew since I'd checked it out at home) and the very best thing was that my hemoglobin has gone up from 117 to 127 and for me that's very, very good and it reduces the risk of getting severely anemic after delivery. We're extremely thankful.
Now we just wait :).

wait and enjoy the REST :)

We were married on Ascension Thursday (it was a Saturday back then!) this year it'll be 20 years . Yay!

May babies are great. Look at DD. That said, TS was born on Easter Sunday and that's a lovely, lovely day too. (And sooner :)

I hope it's a girl. The name Pyry is hard for us Anglo saxons and Lotta is just lovely, lovely.

well our DD did. She added a second name (Elizabeth with a hyphen!) when she turned 14 and talked about it for more than 2 years.

Since Elizabeth is in both sides of my family (but not me and my mother) I decided it was meant to be. Funnily we called her Eliza in the hospital - which is what my paternal grandmother's name was - and I'd have chosen that only in Finland it would have got changed to something like Elisa or Liisa which I don't really like that much (or didn't then) ...so that's why we ran with hubby's choice of name for her - and I love that too :)

For years it really really suited her -she lived up to her name - but now she's a (grumpy) teenager so much of the time - another name would be more appropriate maybe.

But we love her anyway :)
